cjh2s_v1 | The Architecture of Difference | This work presents a unified cognitive framework grounded in the structural operation of difference (∆). Drawing from philosophy of mind, cognitive science, neuroscience, and systems theory, it proposes that cognition arises not from content, but from the recursive navigation and modulation of distinction. The theory defines key architectural components of reflexive cognition: aperture (attentional constraint), frame (predictive schema), overcell (unresolvable frame conflict), collapse (epistemic reorganization), drift (frame navigation under uncertainty), qualia (felt difference under self-inclusion), resonance (multi-level coherence), and reflexivity (recursive self-modulation). The framework offers an axiomatic base and interprets consciousness, insight, emotion, and learning as emergent properties of structural tension. It is both descriptive and generative — a model not of what cognition is, but of how it survives and adapts through architecture aware of its own breakdowns. | 2025-05-08T18:26:04.555200 | 2025-05-08T18:29:43.509087 | 2025-05-08T18:29:10.350973 | psyarxiv | 1 | pending | 1 | 1 | https://doi.org/10.31234/osf.io/cjh2s_v1 | CC-By Attribution 4.0 International | cognitive architecture; collapse; epistemic tension; frame theory; metacognition; predictive processing; qualia; reflexive cognition; self-modulation; structural inclusion | ["cognitive architecture", "collapse", "epistemic tension", "frame theory", "metacognition", "predictive processing", "qualia", "reflexive cognition", "self-modulation", "structural inclusion"] | Andrey Shkursky | [{"id": "8d47w", "name": "Andrey Shkursky", "index": 0, "orcid": "0009-0002-7774-1459", "bibliographic": true}] | Andrey Shkursky | Neuroscience; Computational Neuroscience; Social and Behavioral Sciences; Cognitive Neuroscience; Developmental Psychology; Social and Personality Psychology; Theory and Philosophy of Science; Affect and Emotion Regulation; Attachment; Emotion; Self-concept and Identity; Cognitive Development; Systems Neuroscience; Perception; Toddlerhood/Preschool Period; Cognitive Psychology; Health Psychology; Problem Solving; Evolution; Theories of Personality; Evolutionary Biology; Perceptual Development; Attention; Stress; Embodied Cognition; Biases, Framing, and Heuristics; Consciousness; Reasoning; Survival and Psychological Adaptations; Concepts and Categories | [{"id": "5b4e7425c6983001430b6c1b", "text": "Neuroscience"}, {"id": "5b4e7425c6983001430b6c1c", "text": "Computational Neuroscience"}, {"id": "5b4e7425c6983001430b6c1e", "text": "Social and Behavioral Sciences"}, {"id": "5b4e7425c6983001430b6c23", "text": "Cognitive Neuroscience"}, {"id": "5b4e7425c6983001430b6c2d", "text": "Developmental Psychology"}, {"id": "5b4e7425c6983001430b6c34", "text": "Social and Personality Psychology"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c39", "text": "Theory and Philosophy of Science"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c3b", "text": "Affect and Emotion Regulation"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c47", "text": "Attachment"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c58", "text": "Emotion"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c60", "text": "Self-concept and Identity"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c63", "text": "Cognitive Development"}, {"id": "5b4e7426c6983001430b6c64", "text": "Systems Neuroscience"}, {"id": "5b4e7427c6983001430b6c71", "text": "Perception"}, {"id": "5b4e7427c6983001430b6c7c", "text": "Toddlerhood/Preschool Period"}, {"id": "5b4e7427c6983001430b6c8c", "text": "Cognitive Psychology"}, {"id": "5b4e7427c6983001430b6c93", "text": "Health Psychology"}, {"id": "5b4e7427c6983001430b6c9b", "text": "Problem Solving"}, {"id": "5b4e7427c6983001430b6ca0", "text": "Evolution"}, {"id": "5b4e7428c6983001430b6cb1", "text": "Theories of Personality"}, {"id": "5b4e7428c6983001430b6cbf", "text": "Evolutionary Biology"}, {"id": "5b4e7428c6983001430b6cc3", "text": "Perceptual Development"}, {"id": "5b4e7428c6983001430b6cd5", "text": "Attention"}, {"id": "5b4e7428c6983001430b6cdd", "text": "Stress"}, {"id": "5b4e7429c6983001430b6ce6", "text": "Embodied Cognition"}, {"id": "5b4e7429c6983001430b6cf5", "text": "Biases, Framing, and Heuristics"}, {"id": "5b4e7429c6983001430b6cf8", "text": "Consciousness"}, {"id": "5b4e7429c6983001430b6cfa", "text": "Reasoning"}, {"id": "5b4e7429c6983001430b6cfd", "text": "Survival and Psychological Adaptations"}, {"id": "5b4e7429c6983001430b6cfe", "text": "Concepts and Categories"}] | https://osf.io/download/681cf74221cf02a868c614b0 | 0 | not_applicable | not_applicable | [] | 2025-05-09T00:11:35.698369 |
